A mysterious illness targets high school girls and brings lawyer Joanna Hanley back to her hometown. In a town that's as familiar as it is foreign, Joanna seeks to convince the locals that her family's hurried departure when she was a teenager wasn't her doing. She is drawn into the shadowy world of hackers, political movements, and activists. When Joanna becomes the target, someone from her past shows up to try and alter the course of the events. With unemployment rates rising, tensions in town are running high, leaving some to retreat further from town.

Based on the books "Bad Blood" by Vic Parsons and "The Gift" by Andre Picard, "Unspeakable" chronicles the early emergence of HIV and hepatitis C in Canada in the 1980s. It documents the tragedy that resulted in thousands of people who were infected by tainted blood. The blood scandal is one of the largest medical disasters in Canada's history, and it went on to trigger a federal inquiry and landmark lawsuit which resulted in billions of dollars being awarded to the victims. Robert C. Cooper was a victim of this and contracted hepatitis C from tainted blood.

As she searches for clues, Camille reunites with her estranged family -- overbearing mother Adora, stepfather Alan Crellin, and half-sister Amma -- which rekindles traumatic childhood memories for Camille, including the death of her younger sister. Piecing together a psychological puzzle from her past, Camille begins to identify with the young victims a bit too closely.
