Various networks
Now available in a shortened, 30-minute format, "Sesame Street" bridges many cultural and educational gaps with a fun program that is enjoyed by both children and adults. A PBS staple for more than 40 years, the classic series features a large cast of characters who teach young children numbers, colors, the alphabet and concepts. Big Bird, Bert & Ernie, Oscar the Grouch, and Grover are a few of the characters involved in this program, set on a city street full of valuable learning opportunities.
"Muppet Babies" is an animated television series that features the toddler versions of beloved Muppets characters. Aimed at children from ages 4 to 7, the program follows the playroom antics of a young Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo, Animal, and an introduction to the newest member of the crew, Summer Penguin. Miss Nanny returns to encourage the muppet babies to explore their creativity, imagination, and how to use their creative thinking to solve any problem that may be tossed their way.
"Ruff-Ruff, Tweet & Dave" is a show, set up in a game-show format, that follows the three title characters -- a dog, a bird and a bear, respectively -- as they go on adventures, during which they must make choices. The questions the animated characters face help them decide what to do and how to better understand the world around them. Viewers are able to join in the fun by answering the multiple-choice questions, with Ruff-Ruff, Tweet and Dave serving as the three possible answers to each query and game.
Popular Chica ("The Sunny Side Up Show") gets her own show in this live-action/animation hybrid that promotes social-emotional development in preschoolers. Chica helps her mom and dad in the Costume Coop, a playful shop filled with whimsical costumes, and when the shop closes, she and her friends transform into animated characters and go on adventures that teach kids lessons, including one on an underwater adventure that teaches about cleanup time and another on a voyage with Vikings that explains why manners are important. Chica's buddies include best friend Kelly, huggable rag doll Stiches and pet rabbit Bunji.
