Narrated by Tom Selleck and featuring Bon Jovi's "Army of One" as its theme song, the sweeping seven-part documentary "North America" captures a land where life collides with hostile, untamed wilderness in one of the most diverse, deadly environments on Earth. The series, which took more than three years to produce, includes stories of animals struggling to survive unforgiving weather and rugged terrain, from the frigid Yukon Territory and the lush forests of Belize to the snow-capped Rockies and barren deserts of the Southwest. A "making of" episode chronicles challenges that the production team encountered, including Hurricane Irene and other natural disasters.
Actor James Norton narrates a series exploring America's iconic Wild West, known for its legends and synonymous with Hollywood productions. Miles of desert landscapes, redwood forests and extreme coastlines make up the topography, shaping the lives of the wildlife and inhabitants of the area. Filmed over a two-year period, the camerapeople use the latest technology to capture the location from land, air and sea. Episodes discover the animals and plants that have adapted to life on the sand dunes, including mustangs, coyotes, desert tortoises and cacti.
This six-part nature documentary series reveals one of the world's most enigmatic countries -- one filled with natural complexity, picturesque landscapes and colorful people -- all spectacularly captured, from the Himalayas to the tropical islands, using high-definition cameras. The series was filmed for 16 months and involved a half-million miles of travel, with footage being shot in 26 of China's 30 provinces. Topics covered in the series include the climate and terrain of South China, which is ideal for rice cultivation, and the Tibetan Plateau.
