Club Tigres de la Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, abbreviated as Tigres UANL and simply known as Tigres or internationally as Tigres de Nuevo León, is a Mexican professional football club based in the Monterrey metropolitan area in Nuevo León. Founded in 1960 as Club Deportivo Universitario de Nuevo León and then changed to its current name in 1967. The club has spent 60 years in Liga MX, the top division of Mexican football.
They had their first major success in the 1975–76 season, becoming the first club from Nuevo León to win a trophy by conquering the Copa MX against América. Tigres has won 8 Liga MX titles, 3 Copa MX titles and 4 Campeón de Campeones. Internationally, Tigres won the CONCACAF Champions League title in 2020, finished as runners-up in the 2015 Copa Libertadores and also in the 2020 FIFA Club World Cup after losing the final against Bayern Munich as they became the first Mexican and CONCACAF club to reach the Club World Cup final.
Regionally, the club won the 2009 North American SuperLiga and two Campeones Cup titles.
Tigres is the official team of the Autonomous University of Nuevo León.
