Perspectives on the headlines of the day with a focus on crime, politics and investigative reports.
Veteran political journalist Tucker Carlson hosts this nightly series that bears his name. Fox News describes the show as an "hour of spirited debate and powerful reporting," with Carlson taking on issues that viewers care about. He is joined by guests to help him discuss issues that don't seem to get much coverage in other parts of the media. Regular segments include Carlson calling out political correctness that goes too far and putting overblown social-media outrage in its place, all done in what the network calls "his signature style."
Veteran journalist Howard Kurtz is no stranger to criticizing the media. He did it for 20 years as a media columnist for The Washington Post and as host of CNN's long-running "Reliable Sources" from 1998 through the first half of 2013. So it's no surprise that shortly after departing CNN in mid-2013 for rival Fox News Channel he would premiere a show for his new employer that is modeled after his previous program. In addition to Kurtz and his weekly panel discussing how the press covers a variety of topics that include technology, social media, politics and sports, the host also interviews some of the country's top journalists. And, as you might expect in these social mediacentric times, "MediaBuzz" features some viewers' questions and comments on the show.
Former Clinton White House staffer and current co-anchor of ABC's weekday morning news show "Good Morning America," George Stephanopoulos offers a look at current events with a focus on the politics of the day. Each week's show includes interviews with top newsmakers (including some of the nation's top political leaders) as well as a roundtable discussion, usually featuring journalists from ABC and other news organizations, of the week's happenings. Since 2008, the program has broadcast from a studio at the Newseum in Washington, D.C.
"Face the Nation," which is one of the longest-running news programs on the air, offers insight and analysis on the top issues of the day. Moderator Margaret Brennan welcomes politicians, government leaders and international newsmakers to a roundtable discussion of current events with CBS News correspondents.
Drawing on her years as a prosecutor and her decades of experience as a journalist, Greta Van Susteren's weekday show features analysis of the day's biggest political stories. Van Susteren interviews distinguished officials from both sides of the aisle for a balanced discussion that provides clarity on where Washington insiders and leaders stand on critical issues. Van Susteren finishes each show with her "For the Record" segment, which highlights stories that viewers may not have seen reported elsewhere.
