Founded in 1970 through the merger of Paris FC and Stade Saint-Germain, the club competes in Ligue 1, the highest division of French football, and plays its home matches at the Parc des Princes. PSG is France's most widely supported football club and one of the most followed clubs worldwide. The club has rivalries with Olympique de Marseille, against whom it contests Le Classique, and Paris FC in the Paris derby.
