Whether the protagonist is a Batsquatch, Skunk Ape, Mothman or Chupacabra, tales of mysterious creatures and unexplainable phenomena have been passed down generations. "Monsters and Mysteries in America" takes a trip across the U.S. to reveal the most cryptic, frightening and brow-furrowing stories. Each hourlong episode focuses on a specific region and the lore of residents who claim to have encountered legendary monsters, ancient spirits or alien beings. With America's dense forests, desert grasslands, and hundreds of miles of uninhabitable wilderness, could it really house -- or hide -- so many mysterious creatures?

There are creatures both legendary and unidentified roaming the Appalachian Mountains, and a band of hard-core hunters and trappers have made it their life's work to investigate them. For generations, supposed sightings of these monsters -- with such names as Wolfman, Devil Dog, Wampus Beast, Mothman and Lizard Demon -- have occurred along the 1,500-mile stretch of mountains, and it wasn't until the members of the Appalachian Investigators of Mysterious Sightings had their own personal encounters with these creatures that they became believers. Now, the AIMS crew, led by founders "Trapper" John Tice, Jeff Headlee and Willy McQuillian, use both traditional techniques and modern technology to track, trap and capture these monsters. Maybe AIMS will snag its first one while cameras are filming "Mountain Monsters"!
This series uses reenactments and interviews to retell the circumstances of mysteries that are unsolved. Covering crimes, tales of lost love, unexplained history and paranormal events, viewers are encouraged to call in with information that might solve the mystery.

Man's encounters with mysterious and often deadly creatures are legendary, all the more reason to build a series around them using first-person accounts told through re-enactments.

Four members of the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization embark on a mission to find their creature. From small Southern towns to remote locations in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest, the foursome -- a high-school science teacher, a former roadie, a skeptical scientist and BFRO president Matt Moneymaker -- search for proof that Bigfoot is alive in the U.S. They examine photos and videos, speak to witnesses and use new technology to uncover evidence of the mysterious apelike cryptid that has eluded capture for centuries.

The Tennessee Wraith Chasers (TWC) are passionate paranormal investigators. The team has a specific niche in the supernatural realm -- seeking out activity at asylums, sanitariums and mental hospitals. Unlike other teams, TWC isn't content to conjure up incorporeal beings and collect evidence; it uses traps to capture restless spirits. With common sense and adventurous tendencies, the team either debunks or validates each case it researches, whose venues include hospitals where dead nurses roam the halls and a rehab center that has cries coming from the windows.
A pair of plumbers moonlight as ghostbusters for clients who report paranormal phenomena. Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson founded TAPS, the Atlantic Paranormal Society, in 1990 as an extension of their interest in the paranormal, and since that time they have made it their life's work -- when they're not unclogging drains, that is -- to help individuals or groups throughout the country who feel they have been affected by seemingly unexplained disturbances. Grant left TAPS and the show in 2012, leaving Jason as the team's lead investigator.

"Ghost Brothers" presents a fresh -- and often funny -- take on supernatural spookiness as three best friends take a passionate hobby to the next level in some of the country's most haunted locations. Dalen Spratt, Juwan Mass, and Marcus Harvey -- dubbed as the first African-American paranormal investigation team on TV -- were taught that "messing" with the dead is dangerous business, but some unexplained experiences of their own piqued their fascination, ultimately driving them to delve deeper into metaphysical mysteries. Along the way, they hope to prove there's a little humor in the unknown. As Spratt says, "The best part about `Ghost Brothers' is that THIS time the black guys make it out of the haunted house alive!"
