The most terrifying criminals often hide in plain sight, looking as ordinary as a friendly next-door neighbor. Those regular Joes are the focus of "American Monster," precisely because lurking within them are psychopathic killers. Similar to Investigation Discovery's "See No Evil," the hourlong series uses personal movie footage of the monsters-in-disguise at home with family and friends, giving viewers a sense of how their lives are seemingly normal. Interweaved are the stories of their astonishing crimes and interviews with neighbors and loved ones.

Investigation Discovery honors the success of exposing double-dealing husbands and deceived wives in "Who the (Bleep) Did I Marry?" by reminding viewers to question the seemingly innocent people in their lives, from the dentist to the dry cleaner. The network's first true spinoff series, "Who the (Bleep)...," goes beyond stories of marriage misconduct to expose real evil lurking in relationships from all walks of life. Half-hour episodes include first-person accounts from those betrayed, among them Mary Capps, whose boss, Dennis Rader, was proven to be the infamous BTK serial killer, and Brent Jeffs, whose peaceful childhood turned hellish while living with his tyrannical, pro-polygamy uncle, Warren Jeffs. It takes teamwork and commitment to solve homicides. "The Shift" looks into the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department to show what's involved in solving cases, giving closure to victims' families. The series follows the department's middle shift -- 2 to 10:30 p.m. daily, considered prime time for killings -- as detectives go from an initial radio call dispatching a unit to the scene, to the moment a suspect is in handcuffs. With the IMPD, that happens more than in many other U.S. cities. Nationally, about 60 percent of death crimes result in arrest and indictment, but in Indianapolis, the department has nearly 80 percent success with these cases.
The holiday season between Thanksgiving and New Year's is often thought of as a celebratory period to spend time with friends and family. That is not always the case, though, as the period is not immune from experiencing the same types of violent crimes that occur throughout the year. This series documents stories of tragedy that struck during the holidays, with firsthand accounts from people who had friends or family members killed during the joyous time. Sometimes the victim is killed by someone close to them, such as a case of sibling rivalry turned deadly, but sometimes the killing is done by a stranger who interrupts a holiday gathering with gunfire.

Powerfully emotional stories tell of people who have been targets of compulsive stalkers. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 6 million people in the U.S. are stalked each year, and in most instances, the stalker is someone the victim already knows. The series' hourlong episodes dramatize actual cases through visceral re-enactments and pointed testimony of victims, family members and law enforcement authorities, revealing what happens when stalkers can't have what -- or who -- they want, and stop at nothing to ensure that no one else can either. The chilling accounts probe the mechanics of an obsessive mind and the devastating impact of delusion.
"Relentless With Kate Snow" takes viewers on an emotional journey with grieving families as they work tirelessly, often putting their own lives in danger, to find the culprits responsible for the deaths of those they loved most. From a mother dedicated to putting her son's killer behind bars after he's gunned down at a recording studio to a 20-year search for a victim's killer that was so aggressive it transformed an unsolved, cold case into an active investigation, the series reveals gripping firsthand accounts from the families who will stop at nothing to get the justice the victims deserve.
