If you’d like to take a break without losing recordings that you’ve saved, you can also pause your membership for up to 6 months.

Yes. The live TV programming comes from networks similar to traditional TV broadcasts, so many of the networks we offer have ad breaks.

When YouTube videos are shown on YouTube TV, the majority of the ad revenue from them will support the creators of those videos.

Depending on how you watch, you’ll be able to skip some ads.

Live TV

As with traditional TV, you can't fast-forward through ads while watching live TV. But if you pause a show, you can fast-forward until you catch up to the live version.

DVR

You can typically fast-forward through ads on recorded programs once they’ve aired on live TV.

On demand

Many networks provide recent episodes of shows, movies, and more on demand. Typically you can’t fast-forward through ads while watching on-demand content. If you've recorded something that's also available on demand at the time you're watching, in some cases the on-demand version will be played back instead of your recording.

YouTube videos

If you're a YouTube Premium member, you won't see ads on any YouTube videos in YouTube TV. If you’re not a YouTube Premium member, you will see ads on YouTube videos, which allows us to support the creators of those videos.

YouTube TV is a live TV streaming service with major broadcast and popular cable networks. YouTube Premium gives you YouTube and YouTube Music ad-free, offline, and in the background.

YouTube Premium isn’t included in your YouTube TV membership. However, if you are a YouTube Premium member, you can watch YouTube content on YouTube TV without ads.

YouTube TV has a wide variety of premium add-ons like HBO Max, Paramount+ with SHOWTIME, and MGM+ to help you build out your dream TV experience. They’re available at an additional charge, but many of them offer free trials for new users.

Once you become a member, just go to the Membership tab under Settings to see all our add-ons. Then simply add the ones you want, or start a free trial if it’s available.

Stream select live and on-demand content in 4K with the 4K Plus add-on, available at an extra monthly charge. This special features bundle also unlocks offline recordings for available content and unlimited streams at home.

4K playback is only available on compatible devices.

Users often choose YouTube TV for its balanced offering that caters to a wide audience, including families, with a mix of sports, news, and entertainment channels. It's frequently preferred for its simpler plan, cheaper price (compared to FuboTV), and easy to navigate user experience with wider device support. Its exclusive NFL Sunday Ticket integration and unique interactive features like Multiview and Fantasy Football View are significant draws for dedicated football fans.

FuboTV is often the preferred choice for niche sports audiences, particularly those interested in local NBA, MLB, NHL, or international soccer games, as it was initially launched with a strong sports focus and excels in providing access to Regional Sports Networks (RSNs). It offers a larger number of channels overall and some users prefer its picture quality for certain sports, with 4K streaming available for select content without extra cost. However, it lacks some key entertainment channels found on YouTube TV, such as TNT and TBS which carry March Madness, National NHL and MLB games including playoffs, Nascar, Big 12 football, and 2025 College Football Playoffs.

YouTube TV offers exclusive add-on content and several premium features that enhance the viewing experience:

  • NFL Sunday Ticket: It is the exclusive streaming home for all out-of-market Sunday NFL games, seamlessly integrated with your local and national broadcasts.

  • Interactive Sports Features: Unique tools like Key Plays View (to catch up on highlights), Stats View (real-time, spoiler-free statistics), and Fantasy Football View (linking your NFL.com or Yahoo! Sports Fantasy account for live tracking).

  • Advanced Multiview: While FuboTV has Multiview on select devices only, YouTube TV's implementation is more broadly available across mobile, tablets, and TVs and allows for custom multiviews of NFL Sunday Ticket games and news, weather and reality channels like Bravo.

  • Key Entertainment Channels: YouTube TV includes channels like TNT, TBS, and truTV, which are not available on FuboTV and are crucial for many NBA, NHL, and college basketball games.

FuboTV specializes in certain areas, making it unique for specific sports fans:

  • Extensive International Sports: FuboTV excels in providing access to international sports, including a wide range of soccer leagues (Premier League, La Liga, Champions League), rugby, cycling, and tennis, which are less extensive on YouTube TV.

  • IRegional Sports Networks (RSNs): FuboTV has a strong focus on RSNs, which can be a key selling point for fans wanting to watch local NBA, MLB, or NHL games. YouTube TV offers fewer RSN’s so it is worth checking your zip code if these are important to you.

  • More Channels Overall: FuboTV generally offers a larger total number of channels (170+ in its base plan, up to 300+ in higher tiers) compared to YouTube TV's 100+ channels.

  • 4K Streaming Included (in select plans): FuboTV offers 4K resolution for select sports and on-demand content within its Elite plan without an additional add-on cost, unlike YouTube TV's 4K Plus add-on.

  • Indefinite DVR Retention: While both offer unlimited DVR storage, FuboTV recordings never expire, whereas YouTube TV recordings are kept for 9 months.

For NFL fans, YouTube TV is the clear choice. As the exclusive home of NFL Sunday Ticket, it's the only service where you can watch every out-of-market Sunday game. Your subscription also seamlessly integrates with local and national broadcasts.

Beyond the games themselves, YouTube TV enhances your experience with unique interactive features like Key Plays, Stats View, and Fantasy Football View, which are compatible with NFL.com and Yahoo! Sports. While both services offer a multiview feature to watch up to four games at once, YouTube TV provides this functionality across a wider range of devices, including mobile, tablets, and smart TVs, while FuboTV's multiview is limited to Apple TV and Roku devices.

FuboTV does have a Multiview feature, but its functionality is currently limited to select Apple TV and Roku devices. YouTube TV's Multiview is more broadly accessible across Smart TVs, tablets, and mobile devices, and when you add on NFL Sunday Ticket it allows you to build custom NFL Sunday Ticket multiviews to watch up to four out of market and local NFL live games all at once.

YouTube TV does not have additional fees on top of its base plan fee of $82.99/mo. YouTube TV has no annual contracts, installations, or additional costs like box rental, DVR, broadcast, or cancellation fees. In contrast, FuboTV may include mandatory regional sports fees (Up to an additional $16/mo) in addition to their standard plans.

Both YouTube TV and FuboTV offer unlimited cloud DVR storage, with recordings saved for up to 9 months. YouTube TV's base plan includes 3 simultaneous streams, with the option to upgrade to unlimited streams at home with the 4K Plus add-on. Importantly, NFL Sunday Ticket streams on YouTube TV do not count towards these limits. FuboTV generally allows up to 10 devices at home and 2-3 on the go, depending on the plan.

YouTube TV supports up to 6 individual accounts, each with personalized recommendations and libraries, ensuring everyone in your household gets their own tailored experience.

YouTube TV is widely praised for its easy-to-navigate user experience and clean and clutter-free experience, which is often described as slick and speedy across various devices. It features three main tabs (Library, Home, Live) for simple navigation and offers easy search functionality, including voice search. While some users have reported minor glitches or a learning curve, many find it intuitive, especially for those familiar with the broader Google ecosystem.

FuboTV offers a well-organized interface with a grid-style guide that may feel familiar to traditional cable TV users. Its app generally performs well, though some users have noted minor buffering issues or delays when switching channels.

Where they are at parity:

  • NFL RedZone: Both services offer NFL RedZone as part of a Sports Plus add-on, priced similarly (YouTube TV's NFL RedZone with Sports Plus is $10.99/month , FuboTV's Sports Plus with NFL RedZone is $10.99/month ).

  • NBA League Pass:

  • Premium Movie Channels: Both offer add-ons for popular premium movie channels like Paramount+ with SHOWTIME, STARZ, and MGM+.

Where they differ:

  • NFL Sunday Ticket: This is a major differentiator. YouTube TV is the exclusive streaming home for NFL Sunday Ticket, allowing you to add all out-of-market Sunday NFL games to your subscription. FuboTV does not offer NFL Sunday Ticket.

  • League-Specific Sports Packages: FuboTV offers add-ons for out-of-market league packages like MLB.TV ($29.99/month).

  • 4K Viewing: YouTube TV offers a 4K Plus add-on for $9.99/month to unlock 4K viewing on select content, unlimited streams at home, and offline recordings. FuboTV includes 4K video for select content in its Elite plan ($94.99/mo) without an additional add-on cost.

  • Max (formerly HBO Max): YouTube TV offers Max as part of its premium add-ons or bundles. FuboTV does not carry Max or other Turner-owned channels like TNT or TBS.

  • International Sports: FuboTV has a more extensive array of international sports add-ons, such as International Sports Plus and specific channels like TV5Monde and RAI Italia, catering to niche international sports interests. YouTube TV's Spanish Plus add-on includes some international sports channels like beIN Sports and TyC Sports.

  • Sports Package Add Ons: YouTube TV’s Sports Plus add-on for an additional $10.99/mo includes NFL RedZone, but also includes beIN SPORTS, FOX Soccer Plus, and the Tennis Channel. It also has a variety of niche sports channels like Billiard TV, Fight Network, and PokerGO+. FuboTV also offers a Sports Plus add-on for an additional $10.99/mo also includes NFL RedZone, but has other sports channels like MLB Network, NBA TV, and NHL Network which are not available with YouTube TV.

Both YouTube TV and FuboTV offer flexible, no-contract subscriptions. YouTube TV emphasizes "zero annual contracts or installations" and "no hidden fees" for cancellation. FuboTV is also very easy to cancel, operating on a rolling monthly basis, allowing you to terminate your subscription at the end of the current billing cycle.
