A tight-knit but slightly dysfunctional family of five gather in their hometown of Chicago for the "perfect" holiday. From break-ups to arrests to sharing one bathroom, each family member is packing his or her own eccentricities and hiding secrets from the others -- as if the holidays were all about carols and eggnog. The family includes Sean Sr., his wife, Ann, and their three grown children -- Dan, the youngest of the siblings and the "creative one"; Bridget, the middle sister and the "overachiever"; and Sean Jr., the oldest sibling and "screw-up," still living at home with his parents.

Early '90s band The Heathens lived up to that name offstage as well as on it, partying hard and using drugs. Led by Johnny Rock, the group was on the brink of fame with the release of its first album. Then, the band broke up -- on the day of the album's release -- because lead guitarist Flash discovered Johnny in bed with his wife. "Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll" picks up the story a quarter-century later when the drugs Johnny is using are of the prescription variety rather than cocaine and marijuana. He's out of work, money and options -- until young singer Gigi, who has a burning desire for fame, shows up with a stack of cash and an offer to get the band out of obscurity and back into the studio. The only catch is that she wants to be the lead singer, and Johnny must stay out of the spotlight as a songwriter.
Bridgette Bird is a smart, young single mom living in South Boston who is trying to navigate life with a very unconventional family. As she struggles to make ends meet, she strives to create a better life for her son, Larry, and often finds herself making impulsive and immature decisions. The program is a fresh, raw, and honest comedic look at co-parenting, motherhood and female sexuality. "SMILF" is adapted from Frankie Shaw's Sundance Film Festival Jury award-winning short film.

As these three young women begin to embrace their new reality, Julia must figure out what life is like without her father by her side; Edie comes to grips with her burgeoning sexuality as her marriage falters; and Roxy faces adulthood out of the spotlight. Against all odds, the three women attempt to form a bond as sisters, even as they must welcome a tidal wave of new siblings into their rapidly expanding family.
