This documentary series offers rare access to a community of 15 Mormon families that live in the desert of Utah. These families are unusual in that they are polygamists -- the practice of marriage to multiple people at once. In addition to particularly unusual, the families' lives are sometimes difficult, partly because in the state of Utah polygamy is both a third-degree felony, and because it carries the risk of excommunication in the mainstream Mormon church. This series examines the personal politics of courtship, how to behave correctly in front of your sister-wives, the complicated sleeping arrangements, and also acts as a catalyst to a wider reflection of relationships, love, family and faith in the contemporary United States.

You're familiar with their names and many of their stories, but there's more to most historical figures than what's in the basic textbooks. "Mystery Files" has modern historians, scientists and scholars investigate ancient artifacts, documents and locations in search of answers to age-old questions about history. Episodes look for proof that explorer Marco Polo existed, an explanation for how Joan of Arc overcame hardships to become a legendary saint, details about Abraham Lincoln's dark past, and an end to the debate about English soldier T.E. Lawrence, the inspiration for the film "Lawrence of Arabia."
