The course of true love never did run smooth, but it's bumpier for mild-mannered health food shop owner George Sunday than most. He'd like nothing more than to spend quality time wooing his girlfriend, Janet, but George has a secret: He's actually Thermoman, a superhero from another planet. And just how is a bloke supposed to pitch woo when he's constantly having to save Earth from one interplanetary menace or another?

Curmudgeonly Victor Meldrew, forced to take early retirement from his job as a security guard, rails at the trials and tribulations of modern life as he tries to keep himself busy. His long-suffering wife, Margaret, is frequently exasperated by his misfortunes. Neighbors Patrick and Pippa Trench and family friend Jean Warboys are common witnesses to Victor's antics.
In this space spoof, Dave Lister (a chicken-soup-machine repairman) is a survivor of a radiation leak on his mining space ship. The problem is that he is the only survivor. But wait ... it gets better. Having come out of suspended animation 3,000,000 years later, Lister only has a holograph of his intolerable dead shipmate, the vain Cat (an evolvement of his former pet), old and senile ship's computer Holly (think HAL with memory loss) and robot Kryten.
This comedy series follows the lives of a pair of elderly, post-retirement housemates. While Roy Bowden believes that he is secretly one of the country's leading intellectuals, Tom Finnigan hasn't done much with his life so far. After Roy's wife leaves him, Tom moves in, and the two believe that they still have plenty of life in them. There are a number of women in the men's lives, including Sally, the sexy neighbor across the street who both men find attractive, and Amber, Tom's rather dreary daughter. Tom and Roy compete and banter with each other, determined to make the most out of their golden years.
Told from the perspective of an unseen documentary filmmaker, the series offers an honest, often-hilarious perspective of family life. Parents Phil and Claire yearn for an honest, open relationship with their three kids. But a daughter who is trying to grow up too fast, another who is too smart for her own good, and a rambunctious young son make it challenging. Claire's dad, Jay, and his Latina wife, Gloria, are raising two sons together, but people sometimes believe Jay to be Gloria's father. Jay's gay son, Mitchell, and his partner, Cameron, have adopted a little Asian girl, completing one big -- straight, gay, multicultural, traditional -- happy family.
