Not literally, but if a vehicle were an iconic Mercedes Gullwing or a luxurious Maserati Ghibli, for instance, and Carini saw it in motion, it's a sure bet he would get himself in gear and run after it. That's how much this man loves classic cars, a passion that Velocity has captured for this series since 2008. Known as a "collector car archaeologist," Carini leads viewers into the business of locating high-end automobiles stashed in homes, garages and barns in the U.S. and abroad. When he finds a gem, Carini negotiates to buy it, then resells at auction or privately. Along the way he talks shop with respected collectors, restorers and artisans.

Car fanatic Philip Glenister teams with designer Ant Anstead on a mission to find classic cars in not-so-classic shape, fix them up and then auction them off. Glenister finds vehicles that he can get for the right price and brings them into the shop for Anstead to restore. Since Glenister gets to know each seller during the bargaining process, he uses stories about the car as inspiration to help inform Anstead's overhaul. After the front-to-back transformation is complete, the guys take the car for a spin. At the end of the season, the finished cars are sent to a public auction to see if all of the hard work pays off.

Two ideas producers seem to consistently rely on for reality TV programming are shows about refurbishing and "flipping" cars, and shows about auctions. (Oh, and don't forget to add "Wars" to the program titles ... because it's all about the battle on reality TV!) "Texas Car Wars" combines both of those plot points. It follows the risky bidding wars waged at car auctions among four auto shops in Texas, where there are more unregistered, salvaged cars than anywhere in the country. The series then reveals how the shops' employees try to turn the junkers they purchase into jackpots by fixing them up for resale.

Buyers in the Atlanta area searching for those one-of-a-kind items -- a vampire hunting kit, anyone? -- know exactly where to go, but the quantity is always limited and the prices fluid. "Auction Kings" follows the action at Gallery 63, a storied auction house in Hotlanta with a reputation for selling both bizarre and high-end items. Its owner, Paul Brown, manages his feisty staff and mingles with his customers, bidders and buyers who come from all walks of life.

Richard Rawlings and Aaron Kaufman deal in rusty gold. The proprietors of Gas Monkey Garage in Dallas buy, restore and resell forgotten, derelict American cars, everything from 1931 Model A cars to '73 Trans Ams. As "Fast N' Loud" shows, Rawlings is the mastermind, a deal-maker with an eye for relics worth their efforts, and to find them the guys search barns, fields and auctions across the U.S. Kaufman manages most restorations. He's a fabricator and self-taught mechanic, whose techniques and design skills first endeared him to Rawlings and kick-started the partnership. At the end of Season 12, that partnership ended when Kaufman exited Gas Monkey, leaving Rawlings as the series' sole star.

Rick Dore loves to bring automotive relics back to life, but first he has to convince car collectors to part with prized inventory. Dore, an award-winning custom car builder known for a radical sense of style, fearless use of color and cutting-edge design, is joined by an unlikely partner -- former pro wrestling superstar Chuck Palumbo, a longtime hot-rod purist who retired from the WWE in 2008 to pursue his passion for motorcycles and muscle cars. Together, they find car hoarders and offer to rebuild one dream roadster from the enthusiasts' overcrowded collections, while the hoarders cover the costs of the remakes by selling Dore and Palumbo other cars and car parts from their massive stockpiles.
