British choirmaster Gareth Malone heads to the United States to bring groups of people together through the power of music. Malone, who has an innovative method of teaching but is a fish out of water in an American environment, is thrown into unusual situations with unique personalities; but in the end, he unites his students into a cohesive musical group. Each episode ends with a powerful public performance by the choir in front of their families, friends and communities. Malone's BAFTA-winning U.K. series "The Choir" is the basis for the new show.
