ABC's docudrama demonstrates that unexpected events can catch anyone unaware and change life "In an Instant." Each episode of the series focuses on a harrowing tale of survival and brings it to life through dramatizations of first-person accounts not just of the life-defining events, but of those early moments afterward. Survivors of the life-altering situations -- such as a grizzly bear attack, a plane crash or a bridge collapse -- and the people who helped rescue them share their experiences and explain how coming out the other end has altered their lives in unimaginable ways.

AMC has proven its considerable skill in producing historical Western content ("Broken Trail," "Hell on Wheels"). The network dips into the same well again with the limited event series "The American West," a docudrama that shows how, in the aftermath of the Civil War, the United States transforms into the "land of opportunity," a violent world dominated by cowboys, Indians, outlaws and law men. Across eight episodes, little-known stories are told of Western legends such as Jesse James, Billy the Kid, Wyatt Earp, Crazy Horse and Sitting Bull. The series also features exclusive interviews with notable names from classic Western films, including James Caan, Tom Selleck, Kiefer Sutherland, Ed Harris and more.
You may not want to watch "Paranormal Witness" alone if you're easily spooked. This series brings to life -- through the use of first-hand testimony, home videos and personal photos -- the stories of people who have lived through paranormal experiences. In addition to featuring the usual paranormal stuff -- UFO sightings, poltergeists, haunted mansions, to name just a few -- "Paranormal Witness" episodes also tell the stories of a child with an imaginary friend and a highway that is said to be haunted.
Caitlyn Jenner's first public appearance since her transition included making an impassioned, heartfelt speech at the ESPY Awards about the need for understanding transgender issues and "accepting people for who they are." For her part, Caitlyn -- formerly known at Bruce Jenner -- eagerly welcomes the responsibility to educate people, the beginning of which plays out in the documentary series "I Am Cait." The hourlong episodes present a closer look at Jenner's life as a transgender woman, telling her intimate story as she seeks out her "new normal," while offering a better understanding of many of life's challenges. Most of all, Caitlyn looks forward to living for the first time as the person she feels she was born to be. "I'm just going to live life," she says. "I'm going to go enjoy life. I have nothing left to hide."
